Privacy Policy

Our Commitment to Privacy

The CSTE Foundation (the “Foundation,” “us,” “we,” or “our”) respects the privacy of every individual who visits www.cstefoundation.org and other CSTE Foundation platforms. Because your privacy is important to us, we provide you with notice and choices about the collection and use of your information. To make this notice easy to find, links are provided at the bottom of our homepage and on every page within our website. By visiting the Foundation at www.cstefoundation.org, you accept the practices described in this Privacy Notice.

This Privacy Policy applies to any personal data we collect, both online and offline, on our website and through all other CSTE Foundation platforms (e.g. social media platforms), as well as any electronic, written, or oral communications. This site contains links to other sites, including sites that have a special relationship with us. We do not disclose personally identifiable information to those operating linked sites, and we are not responsible for their privacy practices. Links to other sites do not imply an endorsement of the materials or policies on those websites. You should read the privacy policies of each site you visit to determine what information that site may be collecting about you.

Donor Privacy

The CSTE Foundation values and respects its donors’ rights to privacy. It affirms that its fundraising practices protect against unauthorized use of any donor’s personal information that may be known to the Foundation. The CSTE Foundation does not share, sell, exchange, or trade donors’ personal information with any third parties for any purpose except as may be required in our founding legislation or by law. On our website, the CSTE Foundation may publish a donor list and an annual report to donors.

Information We Collect

We collect two types of information:

  1. Standard web server traffic pattern information. General traffic, site usage, browser information and length of stay information is collected and stored in log files. This type of information is shared externally only on an aggregated basis.
  2. Personal information. We do not collect personally identifiable information from you unless you provide it to us voluntarily and knowingly. If you request information or donate, for example, we may collect the following information: first and last name, street address, city, state, zip code, telephone number, email address, and subject of inquiry.

Voluntary Disclosure of Personal information:

Contributions: If you choose to donate to our organization, we maintain a record of your contribution. Credit cards are processed through our merchant gateway, Stripe. We keep a record of your transaction. Public Forums: If you choose to participate in a blog, discussion board, news group or another public forum that we make available to our users, please remember that any information that you disclose in these areas becomes public information. You should exercise caution when deciding whether or not to disclose your personal information.

Use of Cookies

We use cookies to better understand how visitors use our site. You also have choices with respect to cookies. The “help” menu on your browser should give you options for preventing, accepting or receiving notice of new cookies. You can refuse our use of some or all cookies by turning off the use of cookies in your web browser. However, please be aware that if you block cookies, some Web site functionality may be lost. You can set your browser to notify you before you receive a cookie, giving you the chance to decide whether to accept it. You can also set your browser to turn off cookies.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, Inc. (“Google”). Google Analytics uses “cookies,” which are text files placed on your computer, to help the website analyze how users use the site. Google Analytics collects information anonymously. It reports website trends without identifying individual visitors. Data Use

We limit the use of information provided to us to the following:

Internal Use

  1. If you provide personal information, we may enter your name into our constituent database and contact you in order to:
    • Complete voluntary surveys seeking feedback for quality and service improvement purposes.
    • Supply you with information including news related to CSTE, epidemiology. , CSTE Foundation programs, events and announcements.
    • Request monetary contributions to the Foundation.
    • Provide, conduct, operate, maintain, improve, personalize, and/or promote our charitable activities
  2. We collect the email addresses of those who communicate with us by email. Inquiries may be forwarded to the appropriate Foundation department for response and may be entered into our constituent database. If your name is entered into the database, we may contact you (see (1) above).

External Use

Unless required in our founding legislation or by law, your personal information will not be shared, sold, or released to any organization or business entity other than those affiliated with or working in conjunction with the Foundation. We use the following third parties to provide you with the following services:

  • Give Butter: The CSTE Foundation uses Give Butter for secure online PCI compliant donations. Please view their privacy policy.
  • Stripe: The CSTE Foundation uses Stripe for the secure processing of all credit cards. Please visit their privacy policy.
  • Little Green Light: The CSTE Foundation uses Little Green Light for its donor database and online forms for surveys and registration. Please visit their privacy policy.

We reserve the right to add or delete third parties at any time, at the CSTE Foundation’s sole discretion, subject to the terms of the third parties’ privacy policy.

You Control Your Data

We respect your privacy and allow you to restrict internal and external sharing of your personal information. We recognize that you may wish to limit the ways in which we contact you and we offer the following options:

  1. Do not contact me by telephone.
  2. Do not contact me by postal mail.
  3. Do not contact me by email.
  4. Do not contact me.

To inform us of any desired restrictions, please send an e-mail with your request to info@cstefoundation.org or call 770-458-3811. You may also click the unsubscribe link at the bottom of a CSTE Foundation email to remove your address from our email list. All reasonable efforts will be taken to ensure that your contact preferences are honored. Please contact us by phone or email to report changes to your contact information. To protect your privacy and security, we will take reasonable steps to verify your identity before providing information or making corrections.

All communications are in accordance with the CAN SPAM act and other relevant law.

Special Considerations for Citizens of the European Union

If you are from the European Union and related territories, you have the following rights as it relates to your personal data:

Access. EEA and Swiss citizens have the right to obtain information about the processing of personal data and a copy of their personal data that the CSTE Foundation stores.

Right to rectify. EEA and Swiss citizens have the right to request that CSTE FOUNDATION update EEA & Swiss citizen’s personal data if it is inaccurate or incomplete.

Right to request data erasure. EEA and Swiss citizens have the right to have their personal information erased from CSTE FOUNDATION files if 1.) The data is no longer necessary for the purpose for which it was collected 2.) EEA & Swiss citizens withdraw consent and no other legal basis for processing exists 3.) EEA & Swiss citizens believe their fundamental rights to data privacy and protection outweigh our legitimate interest in continuing the processing.

Right to restrict or object to our processing. EEA and Swiss citizens have the right to restrict or object to our processing if the CSTE FOUNDATION processes their data based on legitimate interests or the performance of a task in the public interest as an exercise of official authority (including profiling); using EEA and Swiss citizens’ data for direct marketing (including profiling); or processing their data for purposes of scientific or historical research and statistics.

The right to lodge a complaint. EEA and Swiss citizens have the right to lodge a complaint about our data collection and processing actions with their country specific data protection authority. Contact details for data protection authorities are available here.

California Civil Code Section 1798.83

Residents of California may request information regarding the disclosure of their personal information to third parties. The CSTE Foundation does not transfer personal data to third parties.

Children (16 and Under)

The CSTE Foundation does not knowingly collect information from children under the age of 16. If you are under the age of 16, please talk to an adult before supplying any personal information.

Security

The CSTE Foundation takes measures to maintain the security of personal information as it is provided by our stakeholders. Regardless, no internet-based data transfer is completely secure. This privacy statement will be updated periodically and posted on our website. We reserve the right to change this policy at any time. Any changes made to this privacy policy will be posted on the CSTE Foundation website under “Website Privacy Policy.”

The Privacy Policy constitutes the entire agreement between you and the Foundation and supersede all other agreements, oral or written, concerning its subject matter.
