CSTE Foundation Strategic Plan

The CSTE Foundation is an independent non‐profit organization created to support the Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists in its efforts to develop, expand and diversify the epidemiology workforce.

Provide Training for the applied epidemiology workforce

Support CSTE’s efforts to expand the Applied Epidemiology Fellowship Program

Support tailored informatics training for the applied epidemiology workforce

Help establish a leadership training program for existing workforce

Establish key partnerships to advance competency-based learning opportunities for applied epidemiologists

Support refining and expanding the CSTE student epidemiology scholarship program

Establish workforce standards

Support CSTE’s regular or interval capacity assessments to expand subject areas and local health departments to improve characterization of the epidemiology workforce

Support CSTE’s efforts to evaluate and revise the Applied Epidemiology Competencies

Provide opportunities for applied epidemiology capacity building

Promote the field of applied epidemiology through support for regional epidemiology meetings

Explore and encourage publication by applied epidemiologists

The CSTE Foundation’s strategic plan outlines measurable efforts to achieve the strategic goals outlined in its five-year organizational plan. The Foundation’s strategic short-term priorities include:

Foundational Priorities

  1. Develop Key partnerships to support the growth of the Foundation
    1. Participate in Board training, meet with members of CSTE Executive Board, CDC Foundation, etc.
    2. Recruit members (of varied backgrounds) to serve as permanent or ex-officio board members
  2. Establish funding goals and priority organization partners to identify opportunities for fundraising

  • New partnerships for resource sharing, collaboration and fundraising
  • Refined and established shared goals with the CSTE National Office
